Brand Strategy

New Look

Created a marketable brand package complete with logos, color palettes, fonts, and graphic designs for socials to ensure consistency and a solid brand identity moving forward. Focused efforts on Instagram content, where most of our audience was engaging. Bringing in a content calendar and analytics website to measure our engagement took our online presence to a whole new level. Allowing for a natural level of cohesion to fall in place. Leading with intention gave us advocacy.

New Voice

Every story published to The Daily Aztec went through my hands before it was seen by the public on our socials. Most writers were not familiar with caption writing, infographic formatting, or social media literacy. To solve this, I made mock-ups and instructions on how writers could create engaging posts and submit consistent content and media to me. These cheat-sheets not only boosted our content quality, but increased social media literacy and skill among writers.

Advocacy

Set out with a few goals to transform The Daily Aztec’s social media presence. One being rapport with our audience. Not only did we need to be our audience’s source for campus news, but we also look to us for content first and forever. This streamlined with our incorporation of organic content creation like reels from on-the-ground journalists and non-news, but still SDSU-related, content. Through this, we were able to translate social media engagement into eyes on our official website.

Graphics & Campaigns

Many infographics at the DA were developed due to inadequate photographic quality or depth in the media provided.

Would the audience scrolling understand or be intrigued just by the photo?

If not, I either pulled a quote or added more information to a picture to portray a clearer message of the post’s purpose. Quick delivery for a fast-paced form of consumption. I executed advertisements with the same strategy in mind.
